Swift Sport Rally - The World Champion's 'Comeback'

The Suzuki Swift Super Sport that took out the Junior World Rally Championship in 2008 and 2010 has made a comeback (of sorts), in Queensland.

Suzuki Queensland has taken inspiration from the cars driven by Per-Gunnar Andersen and Aaron Burkart to create a four door, road going version.

But while the original JWRC winners were three door cars not marketed in Australia, the four door version pictured here features very similar livery to the vehicle which gave Suzuki its third world rally title (Andersson also claimed a JWRC victory in a Suzuki Ignis).

The Queensland Rally Sport is based on the road-going 2012 model Sport and also features a sports exhaust, tinted glass, race craft colouring and sponsorship stickers as well as custom white wheels. It was on display at the International Rally of Queensland which was the third round of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship held on the Sunshine Coast at the end of May.
