Alto Named Cheapest Car to Own and Operate Again

Suzuki Auto Co is proud to announce that the Suzuki Alto has been named the cheapest car to own and operate in Queensland.

The Alto has received previous accolades for being Australia's most economical car, and now the RACQ 2012 Vehicle Running Costs Survey has also recognised this vehicle as providing unbeatable value for its owners.

Impressively low operating costs of $116.70 per week or $6,068.29 per year makes the Alto almost $285 cheaper to run a year than its closest rival.

Alto also easily outperforms it competitors on fuel economy, running on only 4.8 litres/100km (MT) with an average fuel cost of a very modest 7.33 cents per kilometre.

RACQ's Steve Spalding said that opting for a smaller car could mean massive savings of up to thousands of dollars a year.

"It is worth noting that the Suzuki owner can operate their car for more than three weeks for the same amount the Toyota owner (Landcruiser GLX turbo diesel) spends in a week," said Mr Spalding.

This survey compares the private operating costs including depreciation, fuel pricing, stamp duty, registration fees, insurance and interest rates, across 101 cars from different classes.
