The cockpit is designed based on advanced ergonomic studies that helped determine the most natural placement and shape of components. For example, the stress-free driving position keeps you feeling fresh on the longest of journeys. The steering wheel is positioned just right, and its contours feel comfortable in your hands. Cockpit meters are large and clustered together to convey vital information at a glance, so you spend less time reading meters and more time with your eyes on the road. Even the accelerator, brake pedal and ergonomic shift lever offer refined action that enhances your control. Handy power amenities are standard fare on the JLX model. Power door locks and electric windows can be fingertip operated by master controls within easy reach of the driver, and steering is power
assisted for easier manoeuvrability. Your comfort is made complete by air conditioning as standard that keeps everyone, in all seats, comfortable throughout the year.
VERSATILITY
Surprising space and flexibility.
The Jimny squeezes maximum utility from compact dimensions. Whether transporting goods or travelling with friends, the Jimny accommodates your needs. Its space-efficient layout seats four adult passengers in comfort. Headroom is more than ample, and Suzuki carved out extra inches for feet, knees and elbows, so there's plenty of room to stretch. The sporty seats are large, comfortable and supportive during spirited driving. The rear seats fold
back independently to make room for luggage of different shapes and sizes. When you want to take a nap, simply fold all the seats back. Entering and exiting the Jimny is easy for people of all ages thanks to wide door openings, low side sills, and a front passenger seat that slides forward all the way to make room for rear seat passengers as they board or exit. Quality craftsmanship is clearly apparent in every detail of the Jimny interior. For JLX model, the doors and dashboard are fully trimmed and the seats are upholstered with durable, high-quality fabric. Pockets
and compartments are strategically located for easyaccess storage of maps, sunglasses, tissues and other small items.
DURABILITY
The heart and soul of a genuine 4X4 .
There are plenty of cars on the road today with 4X4 styling and street-machine souls. But the Jimny is a genuine
cross-country vehicle. The sturdy ladder-type frame is a solid foundation for serious off-road performance. Its rigid 3-section design helps stabilise the ride and absorb shock from the road. In combination with eight body mounts, a smooth-running engine, and comprehensive noise-reduction measures, the rigid frame helps make the Jimny as quiet as a family saloon. Rigid full-width axles provide a simple yet significant advantage. When one wheel hits a bump, the wheel on the other end of the axle is forced down, increasing surface contact. The result is superior grip on any terrain. The frame floats on a high-performance, 3-link coil suspension that handles highway curves and rocky
embankments with equal assurance. Separate shock absorbers and coil springs increase suspension travel and ensure smoother response. The ride is taut yet compliant, providing a high level of comfort for the driver and all passengers.
POWER
Muscle to match the situation.
The Jimny is powered by Suzuki's smooth-revving M13A DOHC engine, which is notable for its quick
response and high fuel efficiency. Teamed with Drive Action 4X4, it delivers performance to surmount
whatever challenges come your way. Water-cooled, with four in-line cylinders, the lightweight, all-aluminium engine accelerates effortlessly to high revolutions, and generates torque - the practical power you need most during everyday driving - in abundance. Leading technologies like MPI (electronic Multi Point Injection), sequentially
controlled ignition, and electronically controlled EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) provide a high-precision
edge. Moreover, the engine is constructed almost wholly of aluminium, which helps make it extremely lightweight and fuel efficient. All this power and precision is transferred to the smooth-shifting 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission by way of a specially designed chain that not only significantly lowers friction and noise, but also reduces power loss. A transmission lockup function raises fuel economy when driving at highway speeds.
As a Drive Action 4X4 with Air Locking Hub, the Jimny allows shifting between 4WD (4H) and 2WD modes while you drive, which means you can respond to changing surface and weather conditions at a moment's notice. All it takes is to operate the 2WD/4WD swithes. In the 4WD mode, you can choose between high and low settings. The 4H (high)
position is best for fairly flat surfaces, while the 4L (low) setting is ideal when attacking off-road slopes.
SAFETY
Pleasure through peace of mind.
Safety for Suzuki is priority number one. Of course, putting your mind at ease has the added benefit of makeing the driving experience more pleasurable. Suzuki's comprehensive approach to driver and passenger protection includes active safety measures that help you avoid accidents. Excellent handling, braking and acceleration give you the
power to respond quickly in emergency situations. With the optional 4-wheel, 3-channel, 4-sensor antilock
brake system, steering control is maintained even during sudden braking. Active safety is heightened by excellent all-around visibility that makes it easier to grasp the surroundings and respond accordingly. Forward visibility is optimised by a large windshield and high eye point, while rearward visibility is made excellent in inclement weather by a rear wiper with demister. The spare tyre is even mounted low on the rear to minimise blocking of the rear view.
In the event of an accident, the Jimny's passive safety features help protect the driver and passengers. 3-point ELR seatbelts are provided on all seats, and the front seats can be equipped with optional dual SRS airbags and optional seatbelt pretensioners. The body and frame structure were disigned through computer analysis to absorb the
force of frontal impact and spread it away from the passengers. Side door beams are also incorporated to help preserve cabin integrity.
